Development News: The Layout Shuffle and Open Private Messaging

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

We rolled out a ton of updates late Monday night (and early Tuesday morning) that we hope improve your Banktastic experience. We couldn’t talk about all the cool things we added in just one post, so we’re going to space it out over a few.

A few layout tweaks

We wanted search to be easier to use and increase awareness of the hot/fresh filters, so we did a little layout shuffle. You’ll now find the search bar always open in the main navigation bar and Hot/Fresh filters on the News, Answers, and Vendor pages just under the main bar.

If you’re looking for our aggregate Industry Feeds, the link has moved up to the very tip top of the page on the right.

Open Private Messaging

A while back, we had a roundtable discussion about whether a member should be able to private message any other member or if this communication should be limited to just friends. We received lots of great feedback on the matter and in response have opened up private messaging. This means if you are logged into Banktastic, you can send a private message to anyone else in the system. Just hover over their name on click on their profile to get a “Message” link and get started.

In addition, we’ve also added the ability to block a user. We hope that it never has to be used, but it’s there in case you need it.

More to come…
