That particular meme of “Social media marketing best practices” was kicked off by Mitch Joel (who Tim McAlpine has introduced at a Canadian CU marketing event), and picked up by Chris Brogan and many others.     Wow that comment was fast. You didn’t even give me time to follow the Social Media Best Practice of alerting someone that you have featured them. ;)

    That’s because your blog software did it for you. The reason why I included a best practice of letting someone know (the old-fashioned email way), is that some blogging software does not play nice with other blogging software regarding trackbacks. For instance, Wordpress trackbacks don’t show up in some TypePad blogs because they don’t like each other. When you blog about someone else’s blog post manual (email) notification is only really necessary if the trackback doesn’t automatically show up.
