BarCampBankLondon!
BarCampBankLondon was just held on July 5. You’ve probably heard quite a bit about all the recent BarCampBank events being held lately. If you’re interested in attending one, there are several more coming up in the next few weeks:

BarCampBankChicago will happen July 16
BarCampBankCharleston will happen July 26/27

Check out the BCBs above to see about registering. Get in on the discussion while you still can!

Credit Union Joins Credit Karma
News surfaced recently about a credit union partnered up with Credit Karma. The Pentagon Federal CU has joined many banks in posting its rates in the special offers section for Credit Karma users. We think it’s a great move for credit unions to get some exposure through Credit Karma. Good on ya, PenFed!

Q&A: What is your CU doing to collaborate?
Lisa asked this question a while back on Banktastic, but it failed to get any leverage. Mark’s posing the question now to The CU Scoop audience - what is your CU doing to collaborate? Is your CU considering working with another to generate better results? If you have a response for this discussion, head on over to the question on Banktastic and let us know what you think!

Thanks for checking out this episode of BanktasticTV’s “The CU Scoop” featuring Mark McSpadden. Here are some important notes about this episode:

Partnership Symposium
If it hasn’t been announced just yet, Mark may have just spilled the beans. Mark & Brad are going to be at Partnership Symposium! If you’re going, be on the lookout for these two! Also, take a moment to visit the Partnership Symposium site to vote for the open guest speaker slot! Several people have posted their guest speaker audition videos, and voting is OPEN. Go! Now!

Open-Source Software for Credit Unions
The fellas at Trabian recently had to make a pretty tough decision to not open up their content management system. The discussion seemed to pose the issue of security risks for financial institutions through open sourcing code. They concluded to keep everything proprietary for now to provide a secure environment for their customers. If you want to get in on the discussion, let us know what you think about open-source software for FIs by commenting on the Banktastic Blog.
