Help us choose the Banktastic logo!

Hey Banktastics,

First off, thanks so much for the responses on our survey. We sent Starbucks cards all over the world (US, Canada, Spain, France), we love and appreciate to see people getting involved in making Banktastic better.

We have been busy little bees lately putting in some really cool, desperately needed features into Banktastic and hope to roll those out in the next few days. Stay tuned for more details on that…

We’ve also been working on figuring out a logo design and are again working with the design folks over at V/M. They have done another great job and we’ve whittled it down to two that we like and want the Banktastic community have a say in the process. I mean, come on, this site is all about you guys, so why shouldn’t you, right?!

Here’s concept #1:

And here’s concept #2:

Anyway, here are the two choices and I’m not going to be anymore descriptive than that so we can get your honest gut reactions. Vote with your feet and tell us in the comments why you like the ones you do or you can feel free to Twitter us @banktastic. Thanks Banktastics!

I would go with concept 1. It’s clean and professional.

Although I like the conversation aspect of concept 2, speech bubbles are very overused in all things Web 2.0.

Here was a great post that circulated awhile ago that REALLY proves that point!

I’ll definitely check that article Tim, thanks.

Concept 1 looks good. Reminds me a little of the Google Blogger “B” but probably because it’s a B in a colored square. Go figure. Your stylized font choice is nice and simple.

  4. Andy LaFlamme Says:

Concept 1, Tim’s right when he says the speech bubble is over used. I think #1 is a much more unique option.

Tim: point made! That’s really funny that you posted that link. I was earlier going to use the point of how the bubble logos look very Web 2.0 as a reason I liked the second logo. I didn’t realize it was so overused.

As much as I like the bubble one, I have to agree with Tim at this point. The first one is a better decision.

I like concept 1. In particular, I like the “hint” of a shadow coming from the B. It ties the two parts of the logo together for me. I read an interesting online article on logo design trends recently, too. It’s at http://www.blogonexpo.com/2007-logo-design-trends/

Concept 1 seems to have more usability in my mind. You can use the full logo, you can use the text, or you can use the B. The way you have stylized the B is also unique, so you could definitely build a brand around it.

There do seem to be some similarities between the Banktastic B and the one that Blogger and Bloglines use, but I think it will be easier to work with than the speech bubbles.

  8. Brad Says:

Thanks for the comments everyone. Wow, looks a no-brainer decision so far. Anyone else?

  9. Heath Stanley Says:

I’ll put the nail in the coffin, Let’s go with #1
